Every story has one overriding element. Whether you are writing a romance or a horror novel, the battle between the antagonist and the protagonist must eventually be played out. Probably before you begin, you will have a good understanding of your main character and his place in his world. You will follow his journey throughout your story. When it comes to your antagonist, this might not be the case. The chances are we will only see the antagonist at the point when he is finally confronted by our hero. Below I have three tips for fleshing out your characters. That’s one tip for every dimension.

How To Write A Manuscript

One of the most frequent questions that I receive from some aspiring authors is regarding exactly how to write a manuscript. Although different publishing companies may have specific formats for the manuscript in the submission process, there is no universal formula for how to write a book proposal. In speaking with many of the authors with whom I have worked, some prepare a basic outline and develop the story within the confines of that framework, while others actually write the ending to their books first and work backwards to the beginning. Recently, I was asked to assist in judging a short story contest. The contest was general-no specific theme or topic required. Authors simply had to submit a piece of fiction that did not exceed 2,500 words.
