The top differences of Harley and sport bike riders.

The Progressive Group – the leading US bike insurance seller – revealed certain differences between the Harleys and sport bikes owners.

For instance, their research showed that about 93% of Harley riders wear different clothes with imprinted bike company logo on regular basis. And only 30% of sport bikers do the same. Also, 52% of Harley bikers are into body-art (tattoo or piercing) as compared to 40% of sport bikers. The research also proved certain common traits of Harley riders and sport bikers. For instance, both named “freedom” as the primary reason for their rides. Though all people think of bikers as of people obsessed with speed only 6% of sport bikers and 1% of Harley riders confessed to purchase their bikes to feel the speed. Both groups named the same reasons to ride at extreme speeds: products/ mail delivery, engine testing and meeting with friends.

The hand waving was more preferred (37%) but Harley riders more often (29%) salute other bikers by pulling 2 fingers down than the sport bikers (16%). Women are more likely to ride with their husbands or boyfriends and the men prefer to ride in company of their friends. Harley riders (73%) improve the looks of their bikes with various spare parts and accessories. On the other hand, the technical parameters are prevailing for the sport bikers so they do the tuning only with high-tech systems and equipment.
